Women in History & Grand Opening of our Relay Cabin & Cattle Camp Saturday March 14th

Join us every Second Saturday for

Living History Demonstrations and Workshops of the Traditional Arts, Crafts and Trades.

On Saturday March 14th, our celebration of Women’s History Month will feature two historical presentations.

Our resident Professional Storyteller Joanna Demarest will showcase female inventors of the same era with her historical interpretation “Who Invented That? The Trials, Tribulations and Successes of Female Inventors.”

With two showings at 11am and 2pm

Staff historians Erick Nielsen and Dennis Lawson will present a talk on Florida Women in Literature at 1pm.

There will be limited seating for each.

Enjoy demonstrations of blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, spinning, candle dipping, and more.

On March 14th there will also be a Cattle Camp demonstration with Matt, Sam and Maria showing off their whip cracking skills, as well as Charlie Cracker will be joining us for the day to talk about about moonshine and turpentine camps.

In honor of the women who invented coffee filters, paper bags and Monopoly, we will have Monopoly board cookies to decorate in the inside kitchen and paper bag and coffee filter crafts in the barn.

Doc Higgin's will have his Antique Medical Instrument Exhibit on hand. The model train will be up and running in the Pierson Train Station. And a visit would not be complete without stopping by the farm, the country store and our summer kitchen for a bite to eat.

There will also be a Pine Needle Basket Weaving Class 10am - 2pm.
