The Golden Teacup Society to present workshops at Second Saturday
The Barberville Pioneer Settlement is excited to once again welcome to our campus The Golden Teacup Society’s 17th Annual Ladies Encampment.
The public is invited to participate or observe as living historical reenactors from throughout Central Florida gather at the Barberville Pioneer Settlement for the weekend to share, learn and preserve the traditions and ways of civilian women and their families during the Civil War period of 1860-1865.
Tracks of workshops and lectures will be offered for both the beginner and seasoned reenactors.
For those that want to explore the idea of reenacting, a special track is being offered on Saturday. It is a one-day Exploratory Track for girls (ages 10+) and ladies interested in learning more about living history, developing their look and persona and acquiring period clothing.
Public viewing is welcome on Saturday from 9am-4pm and Sunday Noon - 4pm with paid admission to the Settlement.
The Golden Teacup Society began in 1997 as a group of volunteer female reenactors interested in the accurate portrayal of civilian women during the 1860-1865 Civil War period. The group has grown to be recognized in the reenacting community as an organization dedicated to authentic portrayals, attention to historic detail, and guiding new women on the path to accuracy in their impression.
