A  F:lorida Christmas Remembered

Make Saturday, December 12th, 2020, a Christmas to Remember for your family!

Every family will want to make this old fashioned Christmas event an annual tradition. The Barberville Pioneer Settlement’s “A Florida Christmas Remembered” is set to take place on Saturday, December 14th, 2019 from 9 am to 4 pm.
This fun event is for the kid in all of us, featuring appearances by Santa Claus, children’s make and take crafts, live music, living history demonstrations, food and more.

We will have blacksmiths, woodworking, weaving, spinning, pottery, letter press printing demonstrations and more.

The Pioneer Fiber Arts Guild will be on hand providing demonstrations and Christmas items for sale. Check out the Bridge House Gallery for a great selection of unique handmade arts for the loved ones on your shopping list.

Decorate cookies in the inside kitchen and stop by to purchase lunch at our summer kitchen. Along with that there will be plenty of free sweet treats and sour orange punch for all.

Mail a letter to Santa the old fashioned way from the Huntington Post Office.

Visit Christmas with Lucretia at the Historic Underhill House. Join professional storyteller Joanna Demarest as she presents Mrs. Lucretia Underhill, sharing how this pioneer family celebrated Christmas in Volusia  county’s oldest brick home.  At 11 am & 2 pm Lucretia shares the stories of the scandals that rocked Barberville in 1896.

Get moving with—Folk Music and Movement with Eric and Maria—an interactive introduction to folk music instruments from around the world. Great for all ages!

Enjoy the Picky Chics & Chaps Dulcimer Concert, and the Somethin' Else String Band, and more Christmas music.

Admission is free for for children ages 12 and under with a paying adult. There will be a selection of crafts the children can make and take home for free. For even more fun, we will have an extra special set up in the barn where each child can let their inner artist out. Participants will have access to all 5 stations, for a total of $5

Adult admission is only $8 for non-member adults.  Members are free. Annual memberships include free admission to most events and are available for $30 for an individual and just $50 for a family membership.
Your support of the Barberville Pioneer Settlement through events and membership helps to continue to provide low cost educational programs to over 10,000 school children annually through school field trips, affording them the experience of the Settlement's uniqueness, applied teachings and living history demonstrations.
